With a charitable gesture in support of abandoned animals and the vision of the regional shelter at Koroškem

The New Year is a blank slate and an opportunity to look back, at least for a moment, and remember the promises and commitments we made to ourselves. At the Regional Development Agency for Koroško, we made many of them last year – and fulfilled them. On Friday, January 23, 2026, we completed another special commitment, which both reminds and reminds us that with a kind deed we can make someone's day brighter and that it is kindness and concern for coexistence that make the world more beautiful and kinder.

At the end of last year, at the initiative of our colleague Viktorija, we responded to a charity initiative in which each employee contributed 10 euros to an "internal fund". We donated the sum to the Society Against Animal Cruelty (DPMŽ) Koroške . We contacted Suzana Vodnjov, who leads the society at Koroškem , and together we checked what they currently need most. With the funds raised, we bought food for the animals, which we also handed over to the society today.

Our initiative is also related to the Regional Small Animal Shelter project, which we want to implement in the future. We are pleased that the municipalities of the Koroške region have recognized the need for a systemic solution to the problem of caring for abandoned animals by building a shelter. On their behalf, we at the agency are carrying out activities related to the preparation of the project.

With this gesture, we have further strengthened our commitment to social responsibility, as we are in the process of obtaining the Socially Responsible Employer certificate . It is not just a formal recognition, but a long-term commitment to act responsibly, inclusively and sustainably as an organization - for the benefit of our employees and the entire Koroške region.

Caring for animals reflects empathy for all living beings, expresses solidarity and our desire to set a good example with such actions and perhaps inspire others to join in a similar gesture.
