RRA Koroška, the regional development agency for Koroška doo, plays a key and very important role in promoting development in our region. It was successfully led by Karmen Sonjak for almost 23 years. On July 1, 2024, Uroš Rozman took over the position of director, who, with a developed vision and clear goals for the future, is ambitiously opening a new chapter and guidelines for the further development of the Koroška region.

The management of RRA Koroška, the regional development agency for Koroška, was taken over by Uroš Rozman on 1 July 2024 for a four-year term. He has worked at this very agency since October 2023 as Assistant Director and Project Manager I. Before that, he successfully served as Director of RRA Podravje Maribor. Rozman is a well-established name in Koroška as well, as he started his career here, although his birth roots date back to Maribor. He has lived and worked here for more than a decade.

Rozman succeeds Karmen Sonjak, who led RRA Koroška for almost 23 years, as director. She brings a fresh wind of fruitful ideas and an ambitious work plan that promises a lot. The appointment of the new director was unanimously approved by the members of the Supervisory Board of RRA Koroška, who also have great expectations, said the president of the Supervisory Board of RRA Koroška, Saša Porčnik, at today's press conference.

As a reminder, Rozman worked as a project manager within the RRA Koroška from 2015 to 2019. During these years, he participated, among other things, in the preparation of the Integrated Transport Strategy in the Municipality of Slovenj Gradec and the Municipality of Črna na Koroškem, in the Interreg Central Europe project with the acronym Trans-Borders, participated in the preparation of the Regional Development Program for the Koroška region, led the Sustainable Mobility project within the Integrated Territorial Investments for the Municipality of Slovenj Gradec, led the project for the placement and construction of bicycle paths for 6 municipalities in the Koroška region, and one of his most recognizable projects is certainly the placement and construction of the Drava Cycling Path for as many as 18 municipalities and co-creation of the Drava bike tourist product.

A graduate of civil engineering (UN) and a Master of Spatial Planning, he is considered very ambitious, proactive and communicative. In his vision for development, Rozman highlights: "The strategic advantages of the agency today are its employees, and above all, its good knowledge of regional specific needs, knowledge of key stakeholders at the national level, support for entrepreneurship, sustainable mobility and obtaining EU funds. I see greater potential for progress in the future, especially in the areas of tourism, research and development, obtaining funds from transnational and interregional programs, project support for municipalities, the transfer of good practices in the field of smart specialization and internal and external communication. I want us to embark on the path of development of RRA Koroške doo in partnership, with a positive attitude and with a sufficient degree of boldness and penetration."

Rozman is also aware that the RRA Koroška RRA is key to the development of all 12 municipalities in the region. Due to the function it performs, it is important that it and its employees provide the best service to municipalities in the areas of project support, drawing on European funds, networking, tourism, mobility, attracting investors and supporting the business environment. The RRA Koroška must ensure that the needs of the municipalities and the economy are clearly presented in the documents that are being created as part of the post-flood reconstruction, and that financial resources are provided for these needs, regardless of what the European Union's policy is/will be. Achieving this requires a decisive approach in discussions with state institutions and strong support from the municipalities. He adds confidently and decisively: "My philosophy is that it is necessary and essential to be able to find an opportunity to rise to a higher level in every situation, no matter how breathtaking and negative it may be, and here I truly see an opportunity and a bold step forward for Koroška."

The current director, Karmen Sonjak, remains in the position of assistant director for the time being. Sonjak tells the public: "I am convinced that I am handing over the agency to good hands. The fact is that the future brings many challenges, but I believe that the new director and his team of colleagues will be able to cope with them. I am staying, so that the transition will be a little easier. I also want to complete some of the activities that are in progress. I will try to be of help to him with my many years of experience in managing the agency. We have worked together a lot and well in the past, and I believe that this will continue to be the case in the next few months. At the end of the year, I am going into well-deserved retirement."

Today, she officially thanked the general public for their good and constructive cooperation in the past years and called on the media to spread the agency's voice and offer it all their support in the future. They are a key and very important factor in ensuring that Koroška's development activities are heard more widely.
