The Karavanke Geopark BUS has come to life!
The Karavanke Geopark BUS also launched in early July 2025. It is a cross-border bus line in the Karavanke UNESCO Global Geopark, which aims to promote sustainable mobility in tourism. The bus connects the Bleiburg Land train station (Pliberk) with tourist attractions and local points on both sides of the border within the cross-border area of the Karavanke Geopark, offering a comfortable and environmentally friendly alternative to traveling by car.
The Karavanke Geopark BUS is an important step towards better accessibility of the region and strengthening cooperation between transport and tourism in the cross-border area. The price of a single ticket is €2.90 for adults and €1.40 for children . This line will connect Austria and the upper Mežica Valley five times a day until the end of August.
This gives travelers an excellent starting point for visiting numerous attractions in one day – from the Zipline Olimpline in Črna na Koroškem, the via ferrata Mučevo in Žerjav, the Pece Underground in Mežica to the Austrian side of Pece, where a gondola takes visitors into the highlands. There is also a very good connection to the railway, which provides access to nearby bathing lakes and other attractions via the new line.
