The Koroška delegation successfully represented the colors of our region in Japan

The aim of the delegation's visit was to strengthen synergies and cooperation in the international environment. The delegation of the Koroška region also participated in the national day as part of the Expo 2025 visit and represented our Koroška at the ceremonial event. It was warmly welcomed, and it was particularly moving to hear the Slovenian anthem, which took over the stage of the world exhibition. It was truly nice to meet numerous representatives from other regions of our country at the event, including some businessmen from Koroška. Among others, the Minister of the Economy, Tourism and Sport Matjaž Han and the Director General of the Directorate for Tourism Dubravka Kalin were also present.

Slovenia and Japan are connected by common values: dedication to progress, respect for nature, a high culture of dialogue and a deep understanding of the importance of sustainable development. This time, Slovenia is presenting its economic potential, innovations and rich culture to the world. In addition to visiting the Slovenian pavilion, the Koroška delegation also visited some pavilions of other countries.

In the context of the Koroška region and Slovenian-Japanese relations, the role of Slovenj Gradec is particularly important, as it is the first Slovenian town to be twinned with the Japanese town of Myoko. The entire delegation from the region attended an official reception at the Embassy of Slovenia in Tokyo last Tuesday, 30 September 2025, where the delegation was warmly and hospitably received by Ambassador Jurij Rifelj and his wife.

The delegation of the Koroška region consisted of: Mayor of the City of Slovenj Gradec Tilen Klugler, Mayor of the Municipality Mislinja and State Councilor of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia Bojan Borovnik, Mayor of the Municipality Črna na Koroškem Mag. Romana Lesjak, Mayor of the Municipality Prevalje Dr. Matija Tasič and Mayor of the Municipality Dravograd Anton Preksavec. Also present were the directors of the municipal administrations of the City of Slovenj Gradec Darja Vrčkovnik and the Municipality Črna na Koroškem Irena Nagernik , and the Undersecretary for International Cooperation at the City of Slovenj Gradec, Sanja Paradiž. On behalf of the coordinator of the delegation, the head of public relations at RRA Koroška, Anja Vajde, also accompanied them.
