The 4th regular session of the Koroška Regional Council for the 2024/2025 term was held in Muta today, Friday, July 4, 2025, and was chaired by the presiding mayor of the Municipality of Muta, Angelica Mrak. Many interesting and important topics for the region were discussed.

Those present initially listened to the Annual Report of the Koroška Lekarna for 2024. There were no comments on the report. The Council of the Koroška Region unanimously confirmed that part of the surplus of revenues over expenses of the Koroška Lekarna for 2024 in the amount of EUR 272,515 would be returned and transferred to the founders, who may use these funds exclusively for the implementation of healthcare activities. They also agreed that, based on the evaluated criteria in accordance with the Rules on Criteria for Determining the Performance of Directors in Public Law Entities in the Field of Healthcare, Director Dragica Nabernik would be entitled to a performance bonus.

This was followed by the presentation of the new Tourism Development Strategy for the Koroška Destination 2025-2030+ , which was created in collaboration with external expert mentor Emil Juvan , who is the dean of the Faculty of Tourism Studies Turistica in Portorož and also teaches there as an associate professor. They presented it together with the director of the RRA Koroška , Uroš Rozman , who said that the strategy is based on a comprehensive analysis of the current state of tourism, which was carried out in the first phase of the strategic process, and the inclusion of opinions, experiences and views of key stakeholders in the region. It includes clearly defined target groups, priority product areas, communication approaches and mechanisms for monitoring effects. The presented strategy is therefore not just a program document, but a common guideline for the coordinated and long-term action of all tourism stakeholders for the benefit of visitors, the local population and the sustainable development of the region. More detailed information about the creation of the strategy itself and its content will be provided later in a special press release, expected to be released next Monday.

In the spirit of inter-municipal cooperation in the field of tourism, which takes place under the common brand Koroška – a treasury of surprises, the RRA Koroška also proposed the arrangement of centralized management of the register of tourist guides, as past experience has often shown that its establishment is very necessary. The very goal of establishing the register is to increase the quality and accessibility of tourist guidance at the regional level, standardize communication with guides, and encourage their networking and cooperation.

This was followed by the approval of the draft Addendum No. 3 to the Agreement for the Development of the Koroška Development Region , which includes 6 new green infrastructure projects (Črna na Koroškem, Mežica, Ravne na Koroškem, Mislinja, Ribnica na Pohorju) and the project Reducing Water Losses in the Drava Valley (Muta, Radlje ob Dravi, Podvelka). More information about the projects included in the Agreement >

Information on the progress of the preparation of the program under Article 99 of the Reconstruction, Development and Provision of Financial Resources Act was provided by the regional administrator Tomaž Kranjec from the Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development. An amendment to Article 99 of the Act is planned, which will enable direct approval of projects to be included in the program. The program is expected to be prepared in the fall of 2025.

This was followed by a discussion comparing the proposed locations of the shelter for abandoned animals at three proposed locations, namely in the Pameče, Mislinjska Dobrava or Muta areas. The municipalities will make a decision on the final location at one of the upcoming meetings.

In the last part of the session, those present listened to the work of the Koroška Regional Council in the 2024/2025 term, which was successfully led by the Mayor of the Municipality of Muta, Angelca Mrak . This was followed by the handover of the presidency to the Municipality of Podvelka. From now on, the sessions will be led by the new presiding Mayor, Miran Pušnik, for a period of one year.
