European Mobility Week 2025
European Mobility Week is a pan-European initiative of the European Commission to change travel habits and raise awareness of sustainable mobility, promoting behavioural change in favour of active mobility, public passenger transport and other smart and clean transport solutions. During the European Mobility Week, local authorities are encouraged to use this time to test innovative measures, introduce new infrastructure for sustainable mobility and new technologies and technological solutions to increase traffic safety, thereby contributing to improving the quality of life.
The campaign, which is widely known as a driving force for sustainable mobility due to its strong media appeal, is joined by more cities every year at European and national level. In 2024, over 2,500 cities around the world participated in the campaign, including 120 Slovenian municipalities, 10 of which were from the Koroška region.
The theme of the 24th European Mobility Week, which will take place from 16 to 22 September, is "Mobility for all!" This year's theme in the field of sustainable transport reminds us that access to safe, affordable and environmentally friendly forms of transport is a right for everyone, regardless of age, income or place of residence. But the reality is different: many people face transport poverty, transport remains a major source of greenhouse gases, and for many, the car is the biggest monthly expense. European Mobility Week is therefore not just a week of events, but a call to change travel habits and think about the future we want.
The Regional Mobility Centre Koroška, which operates within the framework of RRA Koroška, supports and provides assistance to municipalities and local coordinators in the implementation of the European Mobility Week. The Regional Mobility Centre also provides support to the national coordinator for the European Mobility Week and represents an intermediate link in communication between the national and local levels. As part of the activities of the RCM Koroška, we will be present at various events that municipalities will implement during the European Mobility Week and thus try to provide additional support.
You are kindly invited to attend the events in as many numbers as possible and thus support the efforts for more sustainable mobility in Koroška! With a sustainable way of arriving, of course!
