MPIK – support that opens the door to entrepreneurial success on Koroškem

From initial infrastructure to a comprehensive support environment

MPIK began to develop after 2010 as a response to the need for a stronger entrepreneurial support environment in the region. In the initial phase, the focus was mainly on providing suitable office and production space for young companies, but over the years MPIK has gradually grown into a much broader, also substantively strong support system for entrepreneurship in the Carinthia region.

Today, MPIK operates in several locations across the Carinthia region – in Ravne na Koroškem, in Slovenj Gradec and Radlje ob Dravi. An important step forward in recent times is also represented by the latest infrastructural acquisitions – the office incubator MPIK4 in Ravne na Koroškem and the production office incubator MPIK Innovatorium in Pameče, which has also been offering coworking space rentals for over half a year.

An environment in which entrepreneurial stories grow

The results of MPIK confirm that the region has great entrepreneurial potential if it can create the right supportive environment. From 2010 to May 2026, more than 230 companies have developed their entrepreneurial path in the MPIK premises. A whole host of other companies have only benefited from substantive support through the mentoring and advisory program.

Currently, MPIK manages 5,222 m² of space. This includes 74 spaces, of which 49 are office spaces and 25 are production spaces.

At the end of 2025, 55 companies operated in the MPIK premises, generating a total of more than 15.2 million euros in revenue and employing 115 people.

While the numbers themselves speak volumes, what is even more important is the broader impact these companies have on the region. This includes new jobs, the development of innovative products, the expansion of operations into foreign markets, and the strengthening of an entrepreneurial mindset in the local environment.

Key added value: content support

Experience clearly shows that infrastructure alone is not enough. Young entrepreneurs today primarily need quality information, mentoring, guidance, and access to the right business connections. This is why MPIK pays a lot of attention to substantive support programs.

Free mentoring and expert advice are available to entrepreneurs, with the participation of more than 30 external experts from various fields. In addition, MPIK organizes specialized entrepreneurial programs, such as the MPeak Academy of Success and MPIKov AS, professional entrepreneurial workshops, a program for preparing for the P2 call of the Slovenian Enterprise Fund and much more. An important contribution of MPIK is also networking with the national startup environment, investors, venture capital funds and other development institutions.

MPIK as a community of entrepreneurial ambitions

One of the biggest advantages of MPIK is the entrepreneurial community that has formed around the incubator over the years. Entrepreneurs from different industries – from technology startups and development teams, to manufacturing companies, creatives and specialized service providers – meet in the same place.

In the first months of 2026, MPIK has seen several new companies join the ranks in the fields of artificial intelligence, VR visualizations, UX/UI solutions, laser welding, advanced materials, and specialized technology services. Such diversity creates an environment for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and new business connections.

Community social events, such as MPIKnik and the closing events at the end of the year, also play an important role, further strengthening the connection between entrepreneurs and the sense of belonging to the community MPIK.

Regional development impact

MPIK today also has a significant impact on the broader development of the Koroške region. By promoting entrepreneurship, it contributes to the creation of new jobs, increased economic activity, the development of innovation, the retention of young talent in the region, and the enhancement of entrepreneurial culture.

It is particularly important that MPIK allows young entrepreneurs to build their entrepreneurial stories at home – on Koroškem – and therefore do not have to look for development opportunities exclusively in larger urban centers.

Looking ahead

Demand for MPIK premises remains high, especially for production capacities, which confirms the need for further development of entrepreneurial infrastructure in the region. At the same time, the development of entrepreneurship is increasingly based on quality mentoring support, access to knowledge, financing and business connections.

MPIK therefore remains a space for ideas, development, and entrepreneurial drive - and above all, a space where entrepreneurial ambitions can be given a real chance for growth and success.
